Prologue
Synopsis
This book is the result of an initiative by the Mexican Academy of Communication, ably directed by Ricardo Homs, and is intended to serve as a fundamental reference for scholars of issues related to freedom of expression, as well as for those who, out of concern, wish to delve even deeper into obtaining new knowledge that is useful for achieving the goals of protecting, defending, and promoting human rights in Mexico. The coordination of this text was carried out by Dr. Hilda Nucci with great diligence and sensitivity. The publication itself aims to provide an overview of the main conceptual axes of freedom of expression, its characteristics, and its main theories, supported by the legislation contemplated in our legal system, in the inter-American and universal human rights systems, as well as the standards that both national and international courts have been building in the cases they have resolved, issuing criteria and reasoning established as precedents.
