Synopsis

The protection of human rights, including the right to an honorable reputation, deserves the attention and ongoing consideration of different actors in society and areas of the State. Prestige or honorable reputation is an attribute of personality and, as such, is protected in various legal systems, such as the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States (CPEUM) and international treaties, as well as various secondary regulations, such as the civil codes of each federal entity and the Federal Civil Code (CCCDMX), the Law on Civil Liability for the Protection of the Right to Privacy, Honor, and Self-Image in the Federal District (now CDMX), and other provisions such as federal and local laws, some of which we will analyze throughout this essay.
